Evgeniy Sergeevich Nikitin (Russian Евгений Сергеевич Никитин, also transliterated as Evgeniy Nikitin; born 20 March 1989 in Saint Petersburg) is a professional Russian triathlete, master of sport of swimming and triathlon, and champion of World University Games 2010 in Rome.[1] Nikitin is one of the successful and internationally known pro-triathletes in Russia. Before his career at triathlon, Nikitin was a member and multiple winner of the Leningrad region team and North-West Federal District at swimming, where he became Master of Sport in 2005. He became the Bronze Medalist of the National Championship of swimming in Moscow. In 2007 Nikitin started preparation for triathlon and became Champion of the Saint Petersburg triathlon competition later that year. After that his career and sports results began to grow. He took his first international victory at Karjala triathlon in Finland 2008.[2] Besides other victories such as first place at Swimming Spartakiad of Russia, sixth place at Triathlon European Championship of Transport Universities (Spain, Madrid 2009) and so on, he became the Silver Medalist of Triathlon Finland National Championship in 2010. 2010 was the most successful year for Nikitin. On August 14 in Wiesbaden, Germany, it was the date of Half-IRONMAN (1,9 km swim, 90 km bike, 21 run) and Nikitin was classified to World Championship in Florida.[3] The most important result in Nikitin’s career was the Rome Championship - World University Games – where he became the Winner at triathlon distance and took the gold medal. Since 2011, Nikitin has started to take part in Long Distance Triathlon, also won Half-Ironman in Russia. He was the best swimmer of European Long Distance Triathlon Championship 2011, but didn’t finish (because of a fall from a bicycle).
